We would like to take a brief
moment to thank you for interest in sharing this valuable and rewarding
life long sport with your youth and young adults. I myself know first
hand the positive outcome this activity can have for young people . . .
how do I know this? Well, at a young age, I was afforded the
opportunity to be exposed to the sport as I was taught how to fly fish
by my father. It kept me off the couch and out of trouble.
Fly fishing gave me an outlet to be outside, to explore, and to interact with my surroundings. Not only did fly fishing teach me patience, it gave me confidence, stick-to-it-tive-ness, and it created awareness about the natural world. As a result, I understand the importance of nurturing, caring and respecting wild places so that generations to come might also be able to have a wild fish come up and sip their fly right off the water. I owe a lot to my time fly fishing… great people, amazing places and fostering stewardship for the outdoors. I think fly fishing has the ability to provide you and your students the same, and may you never stop learning, exploring new places, and catching fish on a fly. Thanks and Tite Loops, Katie M. Cole Education Director for The School of FlyFishing
